When you are part of the Madison, WI-based Phoenix team, you will be a part of a team doing important work like helping our customers to:

  • Manufacture medical radioisotopes to support the treatment of thousands of patients that need it each day
  • Non-destructively test turbine blades before they are assembled into jet engines
  • Verify the quality of nuclear fuel rods prior to shipment to power plants
  • Identify and locate buried explosive devices and concealed narcotics
  • Develop cutting-edge particle accelerator technologies supporting clean fusion energy
  • Many other developing market verticals leveraging Phoenix’s core neutron generation technology

Position Overview:

Phoenix seeks an experienced project management leader to manage our facility construction projects and drive them to completion on time and budget. This person will work closely with internal engineering teams on process equipment interface and installation and will work closely with construction contractors and subcontractors. Some travel to construction sites, which will be located outside of Wisconsin, will be required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with engineers, architects, and construction personnel to ensure a smooth construction and commissioning process
  • Development of construction and facility interface plans
  • Selecting subcontractors and delegating work
  • Problem-solving to address delays, emergencies, or other issues
  • Work with subject matter experts to submit and manage applications for safety and regulatory permits
  • Reporting progress to senior leadership
  • Explaining contract and technical matters in a clear manner
  • Preparing budgets, cost estimates, schedules, and timelines


  • BS Degree in engineering, construction manager, or a comparable degree preferred
  • Experience in project management required
  • Excellent communication skills, strong team player, and the ability to work cross functionally in a fast-paced, high-productivity startup environment
  • Excellent technical skills and understanding of engineering methods, facility interfaces, construction processes, contracts, and blueprints
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to delegate work
  • Exceptional time management skills, ability to estimate work effort and time needed for various construction jobs
  • Good writing skills for proposals and reports
