Position Overview:

Analyze, develop, implement, and maintain methods/operational sequence/processes in the manufacture of components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies of Neutron Generator & Particle Accelerator based capital equipment. Interfaces with engineering in coordinating the release of new products. Identifies manufacturing improvement opportunities, determines requirements to implement, and makes recommendations for tooling/process requirements of new or existing product lines. Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide production input and perspective on cross-functional teams ensuring new products and product improvements can be produced
  • Ensure Bill of Materials (BOM) are structured appropriately and are accurate
  • Manage the release of products into manufacturing
  • Provide technical support for plant production by responding to line disruptions and issues
  • Develop processes, work instructions, & quality records for assembly & test for assigned projects
  • Create and maintain Device Master Records
  • Specify and procure tooling, fixtures, and software for operations processes
  • Design and build custom tooling and fixtures as needed
  • Participate in supplier assessment and corrective actions as applicable to improve quality of incoming material
  • Work with suppliers to ramp up production of parts and to resolve issues on existing parts
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve the quality & efficiency of operations
  • Improve manufacturing efficiently by analyzing and planning workflows, space requirements and equipment layouts
  • Track & organize production issues


  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or related technical degree
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience preferred
  • Effective problem solving, judgment, and independent thinking skills for troubleshooting, repair, and recognition of acceptable, or unacceptable product quality
  • Experience with electro-mechanical assembly & troubleshooting
  • Ability to work with electronic & mechanical test equipment
  • Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to train personnel on production procedures
  • Experience with flow charting and workflow mapping
  • Good understanding of good wiring practices
  • Abilities to:
    • Read & understand electrical schematics
    • Quickly assess assigned task requirements, identify potential challenges, and communicate effectively in order to expedite the   successful execution of assigned work
    • Grasp technical concepts and asks for clarification and direction when needed
    • Troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex system tests
    • Work fast in an efficient manner
    • Work independently and within team environments
  • Experience in:
    •  Product and process development
    •  Development of manufacturing tools and fixtures
    •  Good engineering practices including documentation, GD&T, change control, product structure, and bills of materials
    •  High vacuum systems, high voltage systems, plasma, and rigging are all strong pluses
  • Willingness to travel occasionally is preferred
